Embracing Self-Compassion
There’s a lot of overlap in the things we looked at over the last four weeks - shame, self-doubt, self-criticism and internalized homophobia. Self-compassion can help with all of them.
Self-Compassion is: Being kind & understanding when faced with personal failings.
According to Brene Brown, self-compassion requires letting go of perfectionism.
Letting go of body perfection.
Letting go of always trying to do everything perfectly.
Accepting that being human is a wonderfully, imperfect experience.
A friend of mine recently said, “Perfection only exists in the dictionary!” So true!
Compassion Practice: Look in the mirror and remind yourself…
I’m a wonderfully imperfect human, just like everyone else.
