Lent 2022 - Week 5 Friday
Week 5 - Friday
Embracing Self-Compassion
What if being self-compassionate conflicts with helping others?
Self-Compassion is: Sometimes saying no and setting boundaries.
Helping at the expense of your own well-being is not being of service.
Saying yes when you really want to say no will eventually create resentment and lead to exhaustion. It’s also not being honest.
Compassion Practice: Try saying NO when the stakes are low.
TRY IT THIS WAY
1 - Ask yourself, “What is the worst thing that can happen if I say no?”
1a - Remind yourself that our worst fears rarely happen.
2 - Ask yourself, “Am I people-pleasing so I’ll be liked?”
2a - Remind yourself that people don’t get to know the real you when you people-please because it’s not honest; you’re not being truthful about what you really want, think, etc.
3 - Now give it a go and just say no - :)
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
Is saying no easy or hard for you? Does the thought of saying no scare you or excite you?
