Week 2 - Thursday
Releasing Self-Doubt
Self-doubt makes it much harder to make decisions.
It creates confusion.
Self-Doubt is: Thinking you don’t have the wisdom within to make decisions.
Constantly seeking the opinions of others over trusting yourself.
Sometimes it’s nice to get a second opinion or have a friend help you weigh the pros and cons or be a sounding-board so you can work through your decision.
But indecisiveness that comes from self-doubt is not trusting yourself to make the “right” decision. It’s always looking to others for advice and valuing that more than your own intuition and desires.
Silence it: Start small & remember that you can always course-correct.
You have your own inner wisdom (intuition) and the way you strengthen it is to listen to it.
So, start by listening to the little nudges, even if they seem silly.
EXAMPLES
If you’re about to walk out the door and you “have a feeling” you should take a jacket, take one.
If you suddenly have the thought, “I should call Laura”, give her a call.
Then start making little decisions without asking for advice and work your way up to bigger decisions.
Don’t get stuck in “right” or “wrong” decision thinking. Very few decisions are set in stone. You have choices and you get to pick one…or more. If it turns out you’re not completely happy with the decision you made, then you get to make a new one.
