Lent 2022 - Week 1 Tuesday

We all feel shame…in many ways.

Shame is: Thinking I’m bad and/or worthless because I’ve done...
What have you done that…makes you feel shame?

Silence it: Recognize that doing something bad doesn’t mean YOU are bad.

There’s a difference between feeling guilty about something you’ve done, which is sometimes appropriate, and thinking that YOU are bad. Your behavior may sometimes be “bad” but you are not bad.

If you see yourself as inherently bad, you’re likely to believe you are incapable of changing or doing better. On the other hand, if you do something you regret and feel guilt instead of shame, you’re more likely to try to fix it. So, kicking shame to the curb doesn’t just benefit you; it benefits everyone in your life.

Let me know what you think in the comments.
Have you ever done something “bad” and made it about you instead of about the thing you did?
